Is A Fad Diet Ruining Your Progress?
Countries around the world are suffering from massive increases in weight gain. And the bad news here is that weight gain shows no signs of slowing down.
Now the main problem here is that many people are turning to quick-fix fad diets.
So here are 6 common fad diets analyzed:
1. High protein diets: Once you take carbs out of the equation your quality of life will suffer big time. The human body is not made to function without carbohydrates. For example, you will not be able to recover properly from your workouts without carbs.
2. Endurance diets: Most endurance athletes eat a very high carb diet. And the government recommends the same type of diet for the general public. Well, the problem here is that most people aren’t running all day as part of their training.
3. No fat plans: Well, in reality you can’t just take out fat without suffering some serious health issues. Most people can only tolerate low fat diets. But the problem with these diets is that they compromise the health of your cells.
4. Protein powder diets: Despite all the marketing claims, following a protein shake diet is not good for you. Your body functions best when it is digesting solid food that occupies a lot of space in your stomach. If you try to survive on powders and shakes, life will be very miserable for you.
5. Fruit bowl plans: Fruit isn’t inherently bad. The main issue is when people eat insane amounts of fruit in the hopes of increasing their health. And the problem with this approach is that eating so much fruit can jump start triglyceride and bad cholesterol production in your body.
6. Detox diets: Simply taking food out of your diet and surviving on liquids is a horrible way to improve your health. In fact, there isn’t any peer reviewed research demonstrating the benefits of a detox diet. Your body has its own natural mechanisms for detoxifying itself.
You are far better off saving your health and sticking to a diet that is based on sound science. So take heed of the advice in this article before jumping on the next fad!
