Designing The Master Suite
Everyone needs a change every once in a while and if you have had the same colors and furniture in the master suite for a while, it may be time for a change.
Many master suites will have a patio and a bathroom right off of their room which is wonderful. Try to carry the design throughout the area so it looks as if they were meant to be one if there wasn’t a wall blocking them.
Seasonal changes are sometimes the way to go if you get bored easily with design. Many will change at least their curtains and linens every few months to give it that new fresh look without having to purchase new furniture. If you are able to find tabbed topped panels you’ll save yourself money when it comes to purchasing curtains every few months. Just make sure you have a great rod which supports these types of curtains since they may be visible when hung.
If you’re looking for a few colors to choose for the seasons try going for more melons, greens, yellows, and pinks when it comes time for spring and summer. You want it to be bright and vibrant when it’s the warmer seasons since that is what it’s all about; the brighter the better in most cases. Try a great flower print or even add this type of patter in the throw pillows which you can place on the bed as decoration. The blue family and some greens are the way to go for winter. The darker a room is the cozier it feels on a cold snowy day.
You can carry these same colors into the bathing area and if you have a garden tub with either a shelf close by or around the tub, adding some live plants or ivies or using silk plants is always a good touch. Try adding a rug in the colors from the bedroom, in front of the tub or shower. Also in the bedroom, you can add runners which are like area rugs along beside the bed or at the foot of the bed to also add a flare and some color for accent purposes.
Use great lace doilies or a nice colored runner which matches your design for your night stand. Placing a great lamp on top will just give it that little pinch of design onto a basic wooden night stand.
You can get really creative on the patio area. You can buy chaise loungers with colored cushions or even colored chairs now in several different colors and styles. A tabled fire pit is an awesome addition to the porch area and if your spring time, still has very cool nights, a nice fire to take the chill out of the area and can also offer a little bit of romance into the night as well.
