Caring For Your Pet Dog

When you love animals so much, you often get the compelling need to have one around in your home. Its understandable, considering how easy it is to get attached. Dogs are a mans best friend, and over the centuries, its a relationship that has not been questioned. They know how to stay loyal and to give love without holding any back. It does create new responsibility when you decide to get a dog, but its not too hard to learn how to care for them.

The first is food. Owning a dog means assuming the responsibility of putting food in his belly. It doesnt matter the size, or the breed of your dog, you simply have to put dog food in their bowls everyday. The kind of food you get has to be sufficient, in terms of quantity and nutritional provisions. A healthy dog is one that eats right. And as much as you might share a snack together, make sure meal times are adhered to with good food.

Feeding intervals depend on the age of your dog. As a pup, he will need to feed more often, and as he grows up, that reduces to about twice a day. The amount you give must be proportional to the size of your dog. Also provide enough clean water for them. Proper shelter is necessary. Get a custom built dog house that can survive the elements and provide comfort for your pet. Sometimes you want them to have inside the house with you, so make sure theres a nice place they can rest as well.

Regular trips to the vet are also important. When your dog is without an appetite, or is not as playful as he used to be, its a sign that something is wrong. A vet is usually able to figure this out with a quick exam. Besides you learn something with every trip that can help you improve your relationship with your pet.

Dogs are playful, so you cannot deny them that. Its their way of letting out their energy. That simple game of catch is actually a fundamental part in raising a healthy dog. Insist on training your dog every so often, as this builds a relationship, especially when you do it yourself. If you cant go to the park every other day, then walk the dog at least once a day.

Have your pet dog on a leash, in your absence, and make sure he has his dog collar with an ID on it at all times.
